Meet the 24 Millionth VA Loan Recipient!

Main Takeaways

Veterans United was honored to make the milestone loan to SFC William Kopf

Army SFC William Kopf never expected his third VA home purchase would be one for the record books.

The 34-year-old Active Guard Reserve Soldier turned to his home loan benefit again after a military move from Utah to Northeastern Pennsylvania. William and his wife, Ashley, closed on their new home in March.

Three months later, the Kopf family was honored as recipients of the 24 millionth VA loan during a ceremony in Washington, D.C.

“This was about putting down roots in our new community and became so much more,” William said. “The VA loan benefit has meant so much not just to our family but to generations of Veterans and service members. To be a small part of this program’s incredible history is really special.”

William enlisted in the Army in 2003 and spent a decade on active duty. He served seven of those years overseas, including a deployment to Iraq. A month after transitioning from active duty, William joined the Army’s Active Guard Reserve program. AGR Soldiers serve full time on active duty and are stationed at Army Reserve units across the country.

William said the milestone VA loan was his smoothest yet.

“Veterans United made everything so easy, from connecting us to a real estate agent to helping us move through this process at our own pace and more,” William said. “Having someone in your corner who really understands the benefit we’ve earned makes a huge difference.”

VA Loan Program Celebrates 75 Years

The 24 millionth VA loan comes as this historic benefit turns 75 years old in June.

Veterans and service members have turned to their home loan benefit in record numbers in recent years. Part of the original GI Bill of Rights, this historic benefit program is more important than ever.
