Great Place to Work® and Fortune name Veterans United Home Loans as one of 50 Best Workplaces for Giving Back

April 29, 2016

Company chosen for its efforts of encouraging employees to give back to Veterans and local communities

COLUMBIA, Mo. Veterans United Home Loans announced today it was recognized as one of the 50 Best Workplaces for Giving Back by Great Place to Work® and Fortune. The full-service national lender focuses on VA Home Loans and was chosen as the 17 highest ranked company on the list.

At Veterans United, our employees put an emphasis on enhancing lives, said Nate Long, CEO at Veterans United Home Loans. More than 90 percent of them contribute part of their paychecks to our Veterans United Foundation. More than $20 million has been donated to the foundation by our employees. In addition to financial support, our employees also donate their time and energy to various other efforts, such as rehabbing an old motel to convert to housing for homeless Veterans. Giving back is at the foundation of our mission to enhance lives every day. Our employees give back not to receive recognition, but because they truly believe it's the right thing to do.

The Best Workplaces for Giving Back took into consideration feedback from about 240,000 employees in a diverse range of industries, as well as their companies' volunteer programs and charitable giving relative to revenue.

"The Best Workplaces for Giving Back demonstrate more than just a commitment to charity, said Kim Peters, executive vice president at Great Place to Work®. These organizations have earned employees' admiration by involving staffers in their community service efforts and contributing resources in ways that genuinely reflect their unique cultures."

Veterans United Home Loans and the other winning companies were selected based on responses to the Trust Index©, Great Place to Work's employee assessment survey. Employees rated their sense that they make a difference in their jobs, the meaningfulness of their work, and the impact they feel their organizations make in the community. The list also took into account company programs and an analysis of anonymous employee comments about their workplaces.

The Best Workplaces for Giving Back is one of a series of rankings by Great Place to Work® and Fortune based upon employee survey feedback from Great Place to Work®-certified organizations.
